Most Wicket Taker Bowler in ODI, T20, Test All Time List

Taking wickets in every match is a dream of a bowler. This is the only thing that derives them to work harder then before in each match. But no single bowler can the best on each day or in all formats of the game. Only a few very talented bowlers are able to take wickets on consistent  basis. Following is the list of most wicket takers in all formats of the cricket (One0Day Internationals, Twenty20 Internationals and Test matches).

Most Wicket Taker Bowler in ODI, T20, Test All Time

One Day International (ODI) Matches:

1. Muttiah Muralitharan

Wickets: 534
Muttiah Muralitharan was only aged 20 when he bowled for the first time for Sri Lankan cricket team. He is considered among the greatest spinners in the history of cricket. He has taken 800 Test wickets and 534 One-Day International wickets and both records stand till this day. His Strike Rate is 35 and his career best bowling is 7 wickets for 30 runs.

2. Wasim Akram

Wickets: 502
Wasim Akram is a former Pakistani cricketer. He was a left arm fast bowler and a left-handed batsman who represented the Pakistan national cricket team in Test and One Day International matches. He played cricket during 1984 to 2003 in which he played 356 One Day International’s while taking 502 wickets with a strike rate of 36. His career best bowling is 5 wickets for 15 runs.

3. Waqar Younis

Wickets: 416
Waqar Younis is also a former Pakistani right arm fast bowler and widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time. He is a former bowling coach for Pakistani cricket team and also a regular commentator for cricket matches. His ODI career record includes 416 wickets with a strike rate of 30.5 in 262 matches.

Twenty20 International Matches:

1. Umar Gul

Wickets: 74
Umar Gul is a Pakistani right arm fast medium bowler who plays for the Pakistani cricket team in all three formats of cricket. He is a the leading wicket taker in Twenty20 cricket with 74 wickets in 52 matches with an average of 16.44.

2. Saeed Ajmal

Wickets: 71
Saeed Ajmal is also an Pakistani player. He is an right-arm off-spinner bowler. With his amazing variations in the bowling Saeed Ajmal is considered as the most dangerous bowler in cricket today. He has played 51 matches  while taking 71 wickets with an average of 16.59.

3. Shahid Afridi

Wickets: 63
No doubt he is one of the most well known cricketer around the globe in the history of cricket. Shahid Afridi also known as Boom Boom Afridi  is currently at No.3 position in top 10 highest wicket takers in T20 cricket behind Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal after taking 63 wickets in 59 matches.

Test Matches:

1. Muttiah Muralitharan

Wickets: 800
In test matches Muttiah Muralitharan is again at the top of the list. For many people, he is among the greatest to ever spin a ball. He has taken 800 Test wickets in 133 matches and 534 one-day international wickets and both records stand till this day. His average in test cricket is 22.72 and the Strike Rate is 55.His career best bowling is 9 wickets for 51 runs.

2. Shane Warne

Wickets: 708
Shane Warne is an former Australian international cricketer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in the history of the game and he is also a cricket commentator. Shane Warne played 145 test matches in his test career of almost 15 years and took 708 wickets with a career best of 8 wickets for 71 runs.

3. Anil Kumble

Wickets: 619
Anil Kumble is a former international cricketer and captain of the Indian cricket team. A right-arm leg spin  bowler who he took 619 wickets in Test cricket. He played 132 test matches in his career and has a career best of 10 wickets for 74 runs.His strike rate was 65.9 with an average of 29.65.
