Novak Djokovic beats resilient Wawrinka and Rafael Nadal cruises to reach US Open final 2013. The stage is all set as the Tennis ranked World number Novak Djokovic will face the World number 2 Rafael Nadal in the US Open Final. Djokovic defeated Stanislas Wawrinka after a very tough battle which lasted for four hours and nine minutes. The match resulted as 2-6, 7-6 (7/4), 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and at the end it was Novak Djokovic who reached his fourth straight US Open final. On the other hand, Rafael Nadal was able to beat Richard Gasquet by 6-4, 7-6 (7/1), 6-2 to reach his third US Open final in last four years.

This has perhaps become one of the most awaited match of the year now as both are the top tennis players in the world. Rafeal Nadal has won 12 Grand Slam titles in his career which also includes the 2010 US Open while Novak Djokovic has won six Grand Slam titles till now and has been the part of 12 Slam finals. These two players have faced each other 36 times till today and Nedal leads the rivalry with 21-15.
While talking about their match in US Open final Nedal siad:
“Novak is an amazing competitor, His results say it. He’s one of the best players I’ve ever seen. He’s a great champion. It will be a tough final for me but I hope to be ready for that.”
Djokovic admitted that he was not at the top of the game during his match against Wawrinka but still he was able to pull-off a victory. After the match while expressing his thoughts about the match Djokovic accepted the fact that Wawrinka played better tennis them him during most of the match. It was tough for both of us especially i was trying to adjust and find by rhythm. I was just so fortunate to play my best tennis when I needed to.
Wawrinka said that he had a great tournament and his match against Djokovic was tough but he gave everything. This is the second time this year when Wawrinka has faced a defeat from the hands of Djokovic in five sets on a hard-court slam. This victory has ensured that Djokovic will stay on the top of tennis players ranking even after losing in the US Open final against Rafael Nadal.
