This is the first time Namibiais competing in the world championship. We all work full time. I work for an insurance company, from 8 to 5. I actually only moved back to Namibiain 2008. I used to live on the Isle of Man for 10 years. They have It was an awful long journey for us. We left on Thursday and only arrived on Saturday. We first took a flight to Johannes burg, then to Amsterd amand Marseille where we slept on Friday night. And then eventually by train from Marseille to Nîmes.

The Indian squad, spearheaded by world No. 14 Dipika Pallikal, is aiming for a top-10 finish in the World Women`s Team Squash Championships to be held at Nimes in France from November 12-17.

“In 2010, the Indian girls finished 11th and we are confident of doing better this time,” said team coach Cyrus Poncha before the team`s departure for the event.

“Seeded 10th this time, the girls will have to defeat Ireland and Argentina to top their pool before playing the round of 16 against the corresponding country from Pool H,” Poncha said.

Apart from 21-year-old Dipika, the Indian team is made up of the vastly experienced Joshna Chinappa (world No. 32), Asian junior champion Anaka Alankamony (world No. 73) and junior No. 2 Aparajitha Balamurukan (world No. 142).

Hosts France, who recorded a best-ever sixth place in the previous championship yet are seeded ninth in the 2012 WSF Women’s World Team Championship, are bidding to reach the last eight again next week in the 18th staging of the biennial World Squash Federation event in the historic city of Nimes.

A record 26 nations will take part in the 2012 championship which is being hosted by Fédération Française de Squash from 12-17 November, and staged in France for the first time in its 33-year history.

The championship in Nimes will be held at the eight-court Club des Costières, and at La Parnasse Arena – where history will be made with action taking place simultaneously on three new state-of-the-art ASB all-glass show courts.

The championship in Nimes will be held at the eight-court Club des Costières, and at La Parnasse Arena – where history will be made with action taking place simultaneously on three new state-of-the-art all-glass show courts.  France will be led by Camille Serme, the 23-year-old world No14 from Paris who will be making her fourth successive appearance in the event since making her debut in the 2006 championship in Canada.  The former world No7 will be joined in the squad by world No41 Coline Aumard and championship debutantes Maud Duplomb and Laura Pomportes, ranked 71 & 63, respectively.More than 800 clubs from over 70 nations joined in, with players representing Team Squash and Team 2020.
