Timothy Bradley head butts to factor in this fight. Though it is impossible to say whether they are intentional, the clashes between heads inevitably result from Bradley’s tendency to lead with his head when slipping punches. His style, which is defensive and awkward, is comparable to that of Bernard Hopkins. Since the no contest against Cambell, Bradley has been in top form, impressively defeating his last two opponents, Luis Carlos Abregu and Lamont Peterson, by unanimous decision.

Devon Alexander is a strict boxer, but he has shown good power and a solid jaw. In a fantastic TKO win against Juan Urango, Alexander dropped the physically impressive Urango with a leaning right uppercut. That punch is the most important punch of Alexander’s career so far. It showed that he has power and the world class skill to put it to use at awkward angles. More importantly it showed that Devon Alexander has guts. He was winning the fight with boxing but he decided to end it fighting.

The question is whether Bradley can control the pace and nature of the match, much like Kotelnik was able to do. He will look to slow Alexander down with body shots and to draw him into close exchanges. If he succeeds in drawing Alexander into a brawl or at least in drawing him out of his game plan, Bradley will walk away with both belts.
