OHSAA football releases pairings:
The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its first-round pairings for the upcoming football playoffs Sunday, and three of four area qualifiers will be at home.
On Friday, Heath (9-1), the No. 2 seed in Division IV, Region 15, will host Albany Alexander (8-2) at 7:30 p.m. at Swank Field. The Bulldogs are hosting a first-round game for the second straight year and making their third postseason trip in program history.
Newark Catholic, the No. 3 seed in Division VI, Region 23, also begins play at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Green Wave (7-3) will host Fairfield Christian Academy (9-0) at White Field. NC is making its first postseason appearance since winning the 2007 state championship.
On Saturday, Sheridan (10-0), the No. 3 seed in Division III, Region 11, will host Salem (8-2) at 7 p.m. The Generals wrapped up their second undefeated regular season in three years on Friday. Salem beat Granville in the first round last year.
Also in Region 11, Licking Valley, the No. 5 seed, visits East Liverpool (8-2) at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Panthers (8-2) are riding an eight-game winning streak and return to the postseason after missing it in 2009.
