Manchester United On £25m Deal Talks With Ajax’s Christian Eriksen – Reports: Manchester Unitedboss Alex Ferguson is reportedly keen on pursuing a £25million deal to sign Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen. According to reports, The Red Devils are aiming to buy the young midfielder to get ahead from Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid. Christian Eriksen is widely considered to be one of the hottest prospects in European football.
Named Young Player of the Netherlands in 2011, Eriksen joined the AFC Ajax youth academy from Odense Boldklub, and was named 2008 Danish U-17 Talent of the Year. He made his debut for the Danish national team in March 2010, and was the youngest player of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Recently, he was also named Dutch Football Talent of the Year.
According to reports, Ferguson has sent scouts to watch the 19 year-old. Rumors suggest that Ferguson sees Eriksen as the long-term successor to Paul Scholes. Especially after having missed out on Arsenal’s Samir Nasri. Eriksen intends to remain with Ajax until his contract expires in 2014. It is also good to note to that this deal would depend on the success of the £35million deal for Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder.
