The FIFA World Cup 2014 will be the 20th edition of this mega tournament which is being hosted by Brazil. The 2014 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to start on 12th June 2014 and the final of this most awaited tournament of the year will be played on 13th July 2013. After getting the chance to host FIFA World Cup for the second time, Brazil has now become one of the only 5 nations who have been given this opportunity twice.
Total 32 teams will participate in the tournament. As the host country, Brazil has directly qualified for the top 32 teams while the remaining 31 spots will be decided through qualifying matches. The teams that have qualified for the 2014 FIFA World Cup include Brazil, Japan, Australia, Iran, South Korea, Netherlands, Italy, Costa Rica, United States, Argentina, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Colombia, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, England, Spain (defending champion), Chile, Ecuador, Honduras,Nigeria,Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Ghana, Algeria, Greece, Croatia, Portugal, France.
When all 32 qualified teams will be finalized, then they will be divided into various groups. Each team is allowed to announce a maximum 23 players squad for the tournament which must include at least 3 goalkeepers. Their are 62 matches to be played according to the announced fixtures that will be hosted by 12 cities throughout Brazil for which around 3.3 million tickets will go on sale. The stadiums that will host the matches of 2014 FIFA World Cup include Estádio do Maracanã, Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha, Arena de São Paulo, Estádio Castelão, Estádio Mineirão, Estádio Beira-Rio, Arena Fonte Nova, Arena Pernambuco, Arena Pantanal, Arena Amazônia, Arena das Dunas and Arena da Baixada.
