At Last Pakistan ready to launch its first T20 Cricket League with Name of Pakistan Premier League PPL from this year October 2012. Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka Ashraf announced that the Pakistan Premier League will be held in October, Express News reported.
peaking at a press conference on Wednesday Ashraf also said that ICC has agreed upon sending its officials and referees to Pakistan, a move which comes after the ICC meeting held in Dubai.
“I thank the ICC Board for the way they appreciated the revival of cricket and approved of it,” he said.
Another announcement Ashraf made during the talk with media was that the Bangladesh cricket team will come to Pakistan on April 28. “I am sure the Bangladesh tour will break the ice,” he added.
here are even talks of Team India sponsoring one of the teams to be called Sialkot team India.
The preparations of the league are in full swing. The PCB has got confirmations from players like Andrew Symonds and Sanath Jayasuriya. “These players have promised to feature whenever they are invited. This is just the beginning and we are expecting more confirmations. Although these cricketers have passed their prime, their participation will convince other players to come forward. The PCB will also take help from other players who feature on foreign tournaments regularly.”
In all 16 teams are planned to be a part of this event, with teams from countries like Afghanistan and China as well.
The development on the sponsorship end have looked promising.
besides a Dubai and Karachi based sports management group, a company with direct links to a well-known international television broadcasting and sports management company will also make presentations at the PCB meeting.
The League is expected to be launched in October this year.
