Zimbabwe Win 2nd Test against Pak by 24 runs and level Series 1-1

Zimbabwe shocked many cricket fans by winning the 2nd Test against Pakistan team at Harare Sports stadium. Zimbabwe sealed the victory by 24 runs which enabled them to level the Test series 1-1. After 15 long years, this is the first time that Zimbabwean cricket team has ever defeated Pakistan in a test match as their last test victory had came in 1998.

This is a historic win for Zimbabwe over Pakistan and will definitely boost the confidence of the young side. The Zimbabwean fans and the players themselves are extremely happy about this victory. After the end of Zimbabwe’s second innings on fourth day of the match, Pakistan had to chase the target of 264 runs in order to win the match but they failed to do so. In the beginning the run chase of 264 did not looked too difficult for Pakistan but at the end they were bowled-out on just 239 runs on the last day of the match. Zimbabwe sealed the victory by 24 runs which permitted them to draw the test series by 1-1.

On the fifth day of the match, Pakistan required 106 runs to win with 5 wickets in hand. The captain Misbah-ul-Haq and the wicketkeeper Adnan Akmal started the innings for Pakistan but like the top batting order the tale-enders were also not able to stay on the wicket for a longer period of time. Adnan Akmal scored 20, Abdul Rehman 16, Saeed Ajmal 2 and both Rahat Ali and Junaid Khan scored 1 run only. Like always the the captain Misbah-ul-Haq played a unbeaten solid innings of 79 runs but ultimately failed to save his team from the humiliating defeat. The whole Pakistani team got bowled-out in just 239 runs while chasing the target of 264 runs. The Zimbabwean team became victorious by 24 runs.

The Pakistani captain Misbah-ul-Haq said:
“The batting is a point of worry, The batsman’s have to learn from the previous mistakes. You can’t win the Test matches by scoring just 20 or 30 runs. The batsman’s have to score higher runs like Younis Khan did in the first game.”

The young Zimbabwean bowler Tendai Chatara was given the award of Man of the Match for his 5 wickets in the second innings of Pakistan. Chatara took the wickets of Adnan Akmal, Abdur Rehman, Saeed Ajmal, Junaid Khan and Rahat Ali. Man of the Series award was given to Younis Khan for his superb performance in the series.
