Zimbabwe had won the toss and elected to bat first. The start for the Zimbabwean team was not pretty well as they lost their opening batsman TMK Mawoyo at the score of 0 and then the second opener on the score of 31 runs. The middle order batsman Masakadza and the Zimbabwean captain Taylor built a strong partnership of 111 runs before Masakadza lost his wicket to Saeed Ajmal. Masakadza and Taylor were the main run scorers for the Zimbabwe team with 75 and 51 runs respectively. At the end of the innings Zimbabwe scored 294 runs after losing all its wickets. From Pakistan bowling side Junaid Khan took 4 wickets, Rahat Ali 2 wickets, Saeed Ajmal only got one wicket while the spinner Abdur Rehman manged to take 3 wickets.
In reply to this score Pakistan team started well but then began to losing their wickets time to time. First wicket of Muhammad Hafeez fell on total 29 runs, then Azhar Ali on 62 runs and then the second opener Khurram Manzoor went back to pavilion after scoring a half-century at a total team score of 96 runs. The last match hero for Pakistan Younis Khan, again played a very impressive innings of 77 runs which took his team to a better position.
Everyone else in the batting line-up failed to stay on the wicket for a long period of time except the captain Misbah-ul-Haq who scored 33 runs. At the 3rd day of the Test Pakistan team got all out at a score of 230 runs giving Zimbabwe a lead of 64 runs. From the Zimbabwean bowling side, BV Vitori took 5 crucial wickets for his team along with 3 of Panyangara and 1 of Chatara.
At the 3rd Day of the match Zimbabwe started their second innings with a lead of 64 runs. Opener Utseya went for just 5 runs but then Mawoyo and Masakadza built a partnership of 112 runs to take their team to a better position.Before the end of the day Zimbabwe lost three quick wicket of Mawoyo, Masakadza and Panyangara for just 4 runs, ending the day at 121 runs for 4 wickets. Both Rahat Ali and Abdur Rehman took 2 wickets each. Zimbabwe will resume their batting of day four of the match on 13th September 2013 with a total lead of 185 runs.
