The experienced all-rounders of Pakistan national team, Abdul Razzaq and Shoaib Malik must participate in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy to prove their form and fitness, according to PCB. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked both players to play the domestic cricket in order to prove their fitness.
“Razzaq, Shoaib Malik Play Quaid Trophy to prove form and fitness Said PCB”
The Pakistan team selectors have made a list of 50 players which will probably considered for the national team squad in the upcoming series’s against South Africa and Sri Lanka. Both series are scheduled to be played at United Arab Emirates (UAE) during this year. The Test series schedule against South Africa coincides with the domestic Quaid-i-Azam Trophy tournament so it is expected that even after showing good form, Abdul Razzaq and Shoaib Malik will be recalled to the team for One Day International (ODI) series only.
Another reason is that both these players are also not generally regarded as front-line Test players and the T20 squad is expected to remain the same as it has shown decent performances in recent matches. Both all-rounders have already met with the chairman PCB Najam Sethi to confirm their availability for the national team.
PCB is taking some serious steps towards the improvement of Pakistan’s ODI and Test cricket team after the disappointing defeat from the hands of Zimbabwean team in the second Test match of the series which resulted as a drop from fourth to sixth position in the Test teams ranking for Pakistan. The One-Day squad has also failed to perform consistently especially in the batting sector.
Overall their are very strong chances for both players to make their comeback in the national team especially for Abdul Razzaq. But for this they will have to play and perform well in the upcoming domestic cricket tournament, Quaid-i-Azam Trophy.
