Pakistan beat South Africa in 1st ODI at Cape Town

After equalizing the 2 T20 matches series against South Africa by 1-1, Pakistan cricket team has now taken lead in the 3 One Day Internationals series by 1-0 after defeating South Africa in the 1st ODI at Cape Town. The Pakistan team captain Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and elected to bat first. Pakistan started it innings quite steadily but then started losing wicket in quick successions.

After losing the opening batsman Nasir Jamshed at the total score of 49 runs, Pakistan team’s innings went in trouble in just no time. Ultimately Pakistan were 131 runs for 7 wickets in 35.5 overs before the debutant for the Pakistani team Anwar Ali and Bilawal Bhatti bought their team back into the match with an outstanding partnership of 74 runs. Pakistan completed its innings at the score of 218 runs all out with the help of Bilawal Bhatti 39 and Anwar Ali 43 runs.

Pakistan beat South Africa in 1st ODI  by 23 runs

While chasing this low total, South African team’s innings fumbled in the start after losing both of their openers at just 20 runs. No South African player other than Jacques Kallis and JP Duminy was able to stay on the wicket and score runs against the superb bowling attack of Pakistan. Jacques Kallis scored 50 runs while JP Duminy also showed a lot of resistance before he was finally caught by Umar Akmal at 49 runs.

At the end of the match, South African team was able to score just 195 runs before getting all out in 48.1 overs, giving Pakistan team a victory by 23 runs. Man of the match award was given to Anwar Ali for his 2 wickets and a uneaten 43 runs innings.
