Pak-Ind Express improve ATP ranking: Following a last-four finish at the Monte Carlo Masters, Pakistan’s Asiam-ul-Haq
Qureshi and India’s Rohan Bopanna improved their ATP doubles ranking by two positions, according to the latest rankings released by ATP World Tour on Monday.
The IndoPak Express are now ranked sixth, a double-hop from their pre-tournament rank of eighth and a testament to their ever-improving performances in the big tournaments.
Qureshi and Bopanna were responsible for the ouster of tournament second-seeds and multiple grand-slam winners Daniel Nestor and Max Mirny in the quarter-finals of the Monte Carlo ATP Masters. They were, however, handed a surprise loss by the unseeded Juan Ignacio Chela and Bruno Soares in the semi-final.
Individually, Qureshi has been climbing up the ladder since the start of the tennis season and is now ranked 11th, one up from his previous position of 12 in the doubles players rankings.
Qureshi’s partner Bopanna also improved his individual doubles ranking from 15 to 14.
The duo are now in Spain to participate in the Barcelona Open – an ATP World Tour (500) event, scheduled to run from April 18 to 24.
