England Survives on 3rd Day of Ashes series 4th Test

The 3 days of the 4th Test match of the Ashes series 2013 has been completed. After struggling in the start of the 4th match the England team has made a strong comeback in their second innings and are trying hard to win it. England has already retained the Ashes trophy by winning the first two matches and the third match resulted as a draw due to rain.

In first innings of the 4th Test England team was able to score only 238 runs. They looked to be in trouble but thanks to their good bowling attack they were able to restrict Australia to just 270 runs. England team started their second innings with a trail of 32 runs. The top order of the English team failed to perform well and collapsed early in the innings. The captain Alastair Cook scored 22 runs, Root scored 2 and Jonathan Trott scored 23 runs.

With the help of a good partnership between Ian Bell and Kevin Pietersen England recovered from the bad situation. Pietersen scored 44 runs before giving away his wicket to Lyon. Bell remained on the wicket and played a strong knock 105 runs not out. At the end of play on the 3rd day England scored 250 runs with a lead of 202 runs after losing 5 wickets.

All eyes are on Ian Bell as he is the last hope for England who can help them in reaching a good dependable total. From the Australian side, Harris took 3 wickets against 74 runs and Nathen Lyon took 2 wickets after giving 46 runs.
