In the event you are also waiting for the IPL 6 to be held next year, then you must even be waiting for the Pepsi IPL auction. As per the schedule of the Governing Body of IPL, the Pepsi IPL auction is likely to be held in Mumbai in January 2013. The preparation is on in full swing. Like a true fan of your team, you must be waiting for the lineup of your team as all the teams are preparing to participate in the Pepsi IPL Auction. The list of 101 players to be auctioned on Sunday next does not feature a single Pakistani player despite the resumption of bilateral cricket ties between the two neighbors in December last year.

Pakistani players have been excluded from the IPL since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The Pakistan Cricket Board has been pushing hard for their inclusion, but those efforts have not paid off even this year. The decision to keep Pakistani players out of the IPL this year too was reportedly taken in December, before the recent tension between the two countries at the border.Pakistani cricketers have once again been left out of the list of players to be auctioned for the Indian Premier League (IPL), the sixth edition of which will be played in April-May this year.Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had hinted earlier last year that it would at least include them for the auction, but then decided not to. A top IPL official said, “It is for the franchises to choose their teams. The franchises invest lots of money and they do not need to take a chance by including Pakistani players. The idea is to play it safe.”

Australian skipper Ricky Ponting and his successor Michael Clarke have attracted the highest base price of $400,000 (approx Rs 2.1 crore) among the 101 names who will go under the hammer in the IPL players’ auction to be held on Sunday. There are four marquee players in the list, the other two being South African all-rounder Johan Botha and out-of-favour Indian pacer RP Singh, whose base price has been pegged at $100,000 (Rs 53.3 lakh).

“Pepsi IPL auction on 3rd Feb,” Raman tweeted. The auction is likely to see 37 players going under the hammer.

IPL chief executive Sundar Raman tweeted the news after a workshop in Jodhpur in the work of which the decision was reportedly conveyed to all nine franchise representatives.Though the venue for the auction is yet to be finalised, the representatives were told it would be held “in a metro”.The IPL’s governing council decided to postpone the auction date to be positive that it does not clash with India’s One-day series against England, scheduled to be held from January 11-27.

Singh was bought by Mumbai Indians last year for $600,000 but after a dismal show of ten wickets from 11 matches, they was released by the franchise. While Clarke was historicallyin the past with Pune Warriors Indians, Ponting played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the first season. Botha, on the other hand, has attracted a base cost of $300,000 (Rs one.6 crore).

The list includes seven Indians, Englishmen & Irish all-rounder Kevin O’Brien.Although Clarke & Ponting have attracted the highest base cost but their T20 credentials are not exactly thrilling. Clarke retired from the format a couple of years ago, while the 38-year-old Ponting did not click along with his preliminary franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.Darren Sammy, who captained the West Indies in their World Twenty20 Championships triumph last year, will be among the first-timers up on the market. His base cost has been set at $100,000.

The auction is expected to be a low-key affair owing to lack of star players in the list.Among other international players, England’s Matt Prior & Ravi Bopara, both of whom went unsold last season, have a base cost of $100,000 & $200,000 (Rs one.06 crore).”Apart from filling in positive tiny gaps, I do not see any large action happening this time around. Also with the player contracts expiring after the 2013 season, it would be difficult to place your bets on any large buys,” a franchise official was quoted as saying.

BCCI announced the full schedule of the 2013 season which will run from April 3 to May 26 across 11 venues in India. Kolkata Knight Riders, the current IPL champions, and Delhi Daredevils will play each other on the opening of the sixth season of the IPL on April 3 at Eden Gardens. As per the IPL guidelines, franchises will have a salary cap of up to Rs 12.5 million for their squads. IPL will be held on February 3, 2013 at Chennai. The auction was initially believed to be scheduled for January 12, but has been postponed due to a clash with India’s ODI series against England from 11 to 27 Jan 2013.
