Pakistan won their third bilateral ODI series (two or more matches) in India. Their last series win came in 2005 when they won 4-2. They have also won each of their four matches against India in Kolkata. The people of Pakistan on Thursday celebrated a rare ODI series win over India by coming out on the streets to dance and cheer for their team as former players described the performance of the national side as one of the most clinical in recent times. Former wicket-keeper batsman Moin Khan said that 141-run opening stand between Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez made all the difference in the match. Former off-spinner Tauseef Ahmed said the series win would count as one of the memorable ones for Pakistan cricket.
What was not so predictable, however, was another solid performance by Misbah-ul-Haq batting line, which not only upstaged MS Dhoni celebrated order but also provided the one-two combo to give Pakistan a clinical series win.The India vs Pakistan 3rd ODI venue will be the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi & it could not have been a better place to finish the series than the capital of India itself. Both the teams will look to play their heart out in the series because when these teams meet on the ground it is not a cricket game that is played between them. There is millions of emotions that gets attached & that is why whenever there is a match between these teams everything seems to stand still.
Junaid Khan bowled his heart out in an opening spell of 7-1-18-2, taking out Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. Umar Gul came in to remove a subdued and edgy Virender Sehwag, and followed it up with the dismissal of Yuvraj Singh. Suresh Raina was peppered with short balls before falling to Mohammad Hafeez’s offspin. India went from 42 for 0 to 95 for 5. Dhoni was left battling alone, and again, he battled till the very end, refusing several singles with the last man Ishant Sharma and hitting the odd boundary, despite knowing that all of it was in vain, despite knowing that he was the only man in this line-up prepared to fight. MS Dhoni’s strike rate of 60.67 during his 54 is his lowest strike rate for a fifty-plus score in ODIs. His previous lowest was 65.90 during his 58 against Australia in Kochi in 2007.

Misbah: ‘The team played well. The openers gave us the initiative and the bowlers did a great job as well. The way the wicket was playing, 300 was on the cards. It wasn’t going to be simple for a brand spanking new batsman to walk in and score runs, so our openers did a great job. Our bowling unit is doing a great job, Junaid Khan. Irfan has the height and he is using it well. Jamshed is in great form, he is a nice player and he is getting matured now. Eden Gardens is a lucky ground for us. I always enjoy playing in Kolkata.’
Dhoni: ‘The bowlers brought us back in to the game. The spinners bowled well and the quick bowlers also contributed. They lost lots of wickets with the bat. They could get 80 or 90 runs in the last ten overs but they needed wickets in hand. That didn’t happen so it was difficult. If of the top three play with the middle order, it becomes simple. It is not like they are not trying though. They have got the experience in the batting line up but it is about the form. We’ll must modify to the new rules as well. We are an excellent fielding side, they must bowl well and score runs as well. There was something on the pitch for the quick bowlers and the spinners. Overall, there was plenty for each and everybody (speaking about the pitch).’
In the last couple of games, Shoaib Malik assured presence in the middle has provided the ideal foil to the batting line which is liable to sliding often. Although his 24 runs in Kolkata may not appear as large on the scoreboard, his stay at the crease shielded the tail for a bit longer even as they were finally wiped out in 48.3 overs. They lost eight successive abroad Tests. They lost a home Check series. And now the ODI world champions have lost a home bilateral series for the first time in over years. They are in free fall, and continue to touch a newer nadir each time. The failure of the batsmen has been a common factor in all these reversals, and it was no different at Eden Gardens. Despite the bowlers taking0 wickets for 109 to keep Pakistan to 250, India crumbled without any fight, losing their top batsmen before they had reached 100. The tail had collapsed before MS Dhoni could even think about improbable such as miracles.
Pakistan team in full hope for clinch series against India 3 matches with 3-0 but it’s really though. India team also look for comeback in last match against Pakistan and if they lost match their nation must force for some changes in team for new series against England upcoming. they have maximum pressure on their all team players other hand Pakistan team also in form and must want to take 3 match with best run rate so must watch who will win the match?.
Pitch and conditions
Staging cricket in north India is a challenge in winter. Ranji matches have all been hit by fog and bad light. The groundsman, Venkat Sundaram, has been quoted in DNA saying he has always asked the BCCI to not stage matches in Delhi at this time of the year. In fact, Feroz Shah Kotla has hosted only three international matches in January.
However, Sundaram says the pitch is ready. The match strip produced a result in three days and a bit in the first-class match between Delhi and Odisha in November, but don’t expect such help for seamers in the ODI.
The temperature is likely to swing between 4C and 15C. Fog and dew will be factors too, which is why we have the game starting at noon.
