The 2012-13 Big Bash League season will be the second season of the BIG Bash League, the premier T20 cricket competition in Australia. The official player signing window opener on Monday 9 July and will close on 20 July.
Teams will have a salary cap of A$1 million and can sign up to a maximum of 18 players, but no fewer then 14, including two international stars. The minimum playing contract has been set at A$20,000. Unlike the 2011-12 inaugural season, Cricket Australia has decided that each player has the opportunity to sign multi-year deals with the contract window opening on 9 July 2012 and ending on 20 July 2012.

Pakistan Cricket Board has denied Umar Akmal, Saeed Ajmal and Shahid Afridi permission to play this season’s Big Bash League to ensure the trio’s participation in their domestic T20 tournament Faysal Bank T20 Cup.
Pakistan Cricket Board has granted Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal permission to play a few games at this season’s Big Blash League, on the request of Cricket Australia.
Shahid Afridi thr Pakistan all-rounder has said he will not play for Sydeny Thunder despite being given permission by Pakistan Cricket Board to take part in Big Bash League. Afridi said he wanted to play in Pakistan’s domestic T20 tournament Faysal Bank T20 Cup instead and that clashes with Big Bash League.
Sydeny Sixers terminated Umar Akmal’s contract. Sixers were unhappy to have Akmal’s original three game stint cut to one and are now looking elsewhere. Adelaide Strikers are intended to call on Saeed Ajmal for only the first game of the tournament and then regain him for the final stages.
