Bangalore Royal Challengers beat Otago by 80 runs
South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis starred with bat and ball to help Bangalore Royal Challengers knock the Otago Volts out of the Champions League Twenty20.
Kallis hit a brilliant half-century and claimed three wickets as the Indian side comfortably beat the New Zealanders by 80 runs.
Kallis made 73 off 59 deliveries, while fellow opener Robin Uthappa made 42 off 31, the two laying a solid foundation at the top of the order for a total of 188 for two.
With the ball in his hand, Kallis then took three wickets in an outstanding bowling spell to leave the Volts in disarray, and captain Anil Kumble added two wickets as the Challengers secured their place in the second round by skittling out the Volts for 108 in 17.5 overs.
Uthappa dominated a tournament-best opening stand of 75 with four boundaries and two sixes in a blazing 31-delivery stay and by the time he was dismissed, the home side were well on track for a big total.
