Pakistan won the 2nd ODI against South Africa: Out standing performance of Abdul Razzak score 109 of 72 balls.
South Africa 286 for 8 (Ingram 100, Amla 65, Duminy 54)
Shahid Afridi kept Pakistan’s hopes of chasing down an imposing total just about alive as his top-order once again vanished before him. A brief flurry from the Pakistan captain saw them reach 108 for 4 at the halfway stage, a molehill climbed, a mountain still left.
Pakistan did begin a chase though what target they had in mind wasn’t clear. It didn’t appear to be the 287 South Africa had set them. The start was poor; opening with young Asad Shafiq seems expressly designed to ruin the career of a middle-order man.
Mostly they meandered along after that. Mohammad Hafeez looked pretty. Younis Khan looked classy but got unlucky. Hafeez continued to look pretty. Misbah-ul-Haq arrived keen to improve on his 25-ball 14 from the other night and got a 28-ball 17. Hafeez still looked pretty. And then got out, a pretty 30 the result.
By then the game seemed up, which is often the time for Afridi to do some damage. Spinners were on; in Robin Peterson’s left-arm precisely the kind Pakistan often implode against. When he got Misbah another collapse seemed imminent. But Afridi respects spinners less than any species of bowler. Having powered Peterson through midwicket, he smashed him through covers an over later, before dancing down next ball to loft him for a massive six.
That brought up the 100 and more importantly, signaled a little fight.
