The 22nd Men’s Handball World Championship is currently taking place in Sweden. In the 2011 World Championship, 24 nations compete for the gold medal. The first Men’s Handball World Championship took place in Germany in 1938 and has ever since been dominated by European countries. Any medals have yet to be won by non-European teams.
